The American Academy of Dermatology’s Board of Directors, recently charged an Ad Hoc Task Force to think about future healthcare trends and create a meeting that will engage the Academy’s creative membership by embracing new ideas and innovations. To kick off the meeting on day one, the program content will highlight innovation and entrepreneurial practices through real-life examples of dermatologist developing new products and technologies that are changing how dermatology is being practiced. Innovation will carry over through the rest of the meeting in a more traditional format, allowing participants to take home real tips they can implement into their own practice.
The American Academy of Dermatology invites you to submit proposals to present at this new event. There are two pathways to submit proposals; The Future of Dermatology, held on the first day of the meeting, or for a Parallel session during the remainder of the meeting.
The purpose of The Future of Dermatology is to highlight new products/technologies in development or new techniques that will benefit dermatologists and their teams in the care of patients. Products to be discussed should be in the FDA approval pipeline with an expectation that approval will be granted in the next 1-3 years. Proposals may also address products that are only just being considered for development or in the very early stages of development. These proposals will be presenting during a Derm Tank session, based on the popular TV show, “Shark Tank™”, allowing presenters the opportunity to “sell” their product ideas. Through this fun and interactive session, the moderators, i.e. the “sharks”, and the audience will get to engage with the presenters and discuss future product development.
Parallel Sessions are sessions of varying length running concurrently, focused on a single topic (listed on the submission page). Speakers in these sessions may either be invited to fill a particular educational need or from an accepted proposal. Duration of the sessions may vary based on topic.
AAD members and non-members are eligible to submit proposals for The Future of Dermatology. Only AAD members are eligible to submit for a Parallel session proposal.
Please note – sessions from the existing 2019 AAD Summer Meeting will not be repeated at this new event.
